A Level 3 practitioner qualified through Archimedes I have been working within Forest Schools for a number of years in a variety of outdoor settings. With past experience gained as a youth leader for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme I have many years of experience working with children.

Having always been fascinated by the natural systems and cycles of the environment I studied Environmental Science at Uni.This has dovetailed really well with Forest School and i'm excited to get the opportunity to try to spark the same curiosity, delight and respect that I have for nature in the children and adults attending our sessions. Running Wild Forest School' was set up with the talented Emma Pledger and together we work with a passion to provide outdoor adventures and positive experiences. I find my work very rewarding and even when i'm not officially working having three school aged children of my own I still find plenty of excuses to go and play out in the woods :-)

I'm Emma Pledger. I have my level 3 qualification in childcare and have worked in an early years setting for many years both abroad and in the UK. I went from running a nursery group to then working within the nursery at Great Ballard School in West Sussex alongside learning support in prep school. That's when I started getting involved with Forest School I did my level 2 to assist my leader Clare and she made me fall in love with Forest School! I saw just how incredible it is and how the children were benefitting having this part of their curriculum and it fitted hand in hand almost with the work i do in learning support and children with special needs. So i then worked towards my level 3 qualification with Archimedes and now currently run the Forest School at Great Ballard. In 2016 I met the lovely Laura, we share the same love and enthusiasm for Forest School and how important it is for children to be children and get away from those screens! That's when Running Wild Forest school was created!

Shelly provides Running Wild with invaluable volunteer support at our sessions and events and brings with her nearly 10 years of voluntary work with the scouting movement. Currently a Cub leader at 1st Selsey Scouts her down to earth nature and great sense of humour enables her to connect brilliantly with both children and adults

"I've got involved wtih Forest school as I think getting kids outside is massively important. Forest School is great for that as it provides a safe environment for kids to run free and at the same time they are learning important life skills such as team work, how to be respectful to nature and to one another"

Alison came along to two of our sessions and we were so impressed at how she helped and supported the younger children around her that we asked her if she wanted to come along on a regular basis. A bright young lady Alison has had the distinction of being selected by the Girl Guides as one of eleven girls to go to Thailand in 2017 and work in schools and the local community.
